Brands You Didn’t Know Are Actually South African

Brands You Didn’t Know Are Actually South African. There are a number of brands that many South Africans believe originated in other countries, meanwhile these brands are fully South African brands. This confusion can be caused by how companies brand themselves or how the South African public perceives the products. Below are some of the brand you didn’t know are actually South African.

Fabiani

Fabiani is South Africa’s premier destination for sophisticated luxury menswear. Established in 1978, the brand has a passionate devotion to Italian-inspired design and tailoring as well as unique detailing, superior fabrication and bold colours. Originally focused on selling high-quality suiting, the successive addition of luxe casualwear, shoes and accessories ensures that a complete menswear offering is available to customers.

Polo

Founded in 1967, Polo started as a men’s shirting brand, producing the finest tailored shirts. Polo is available in thirteen retail stores across the country, leading department stores and selected independent stores. The POLO clothing brand familiar to South Africans in local retail stores is not associated with Ralph Lauren, though there is a usage agreement between the two companies.

Mochachos

Mochachos opened its first store in 1994 in Pretoria. At the time it was known as Mochachos Steak Villages. This store was one of the first outlets in South Africa to offer Mexican Dishes. The Mochachos Chicken Villages concept is based on “Mexican Flavoured Flame Grilled Chicken” combined with a specialised Mexican Foods menu. The motivating factor for this choice was the demand for consumers for “exotic” and healthy dining.

American Swiss

American Swiss is the largest jewellery chain in Southern Africa with the brand positioned to appeal to the fashion-forward and image-conscious customer. All American Swiss Diamonds half a carat and above are independently certified and are accompanied by a certificate detailing exact measurements, colour, clarity, carat weight, cut and features.
