FlySafair gives businesses a leg up with third year of Business Booster campaign

South Africa’s leading low-cost airline, FlySafair, is offering businesses a leg up with their third annual Business Booster campaign. As with previous years, the campaign is intended to help South Africa’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) grow to new heights.

Entries are open until 15th August, by which time businesses can submit their entries and make their case why they should be considered for a spot amongst the six winners.

An impartial panel of judges will choose the six winners.

The prizes and potential cost savings are extensive, including ten free business class return flights; a full page ad space in the FlySafair Inflight magazine; exposure via their company profile being featured on the FlySafair Business Booster Page and various profiling opportunities across the airline’s social and digital channels.

”It is well acknowledged that SMEs are essential to South Africa’s growth and development, contributing around 34% of the country’s GDP. As well, SMEs are pivotal in addressing the country’s high level of unemployment, providing employment to about 60% of the labour force. Additionally, in a tough economic climate, they are also amongst the most vulnerable businesses and don’t have the same financial cushioning large enterprises often benefit from,” says Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair.

Gordon explains that the campaign, which was first launched in September 2022, is about appreciating South African businesses and people that help the airline to continue flying year after year.

To enter, businesses need to complete a form detailing the nature of their business, what products or services they offer, how often they travel for business, and how winning the Business Booster would help them grow. They further need to provide a compelling motivation as to why they should be chosen, briefly explaining their challenges and milestones.

They must also be categorised as a small business, have a website or active social media page, and be registered. Businesses who meet these criteria can submit their entries on the FlySafair Business Booster Competition website

This year’s campaign comes in the wake of the airline’s Schools Booster competition, which the airline launched in June of this year. This similarly aimed to make flying more easily within reach, with a focus on South African learners.

”At FlySafair, we understand that running a small business in South Africa is not always easy. SMEs face a myriad of challenges, from operating in a low growth economy to having to contend with cybersecurity risks. This ongoing annual campaign is our way of making the lives of South African businesses a bit easier, while also helping the economy grow by bolstering this critical sector,” concludes Gordon.
