Bellville Business Expo 2025 Strengthens Its Role as a Catalyst for SMME Growth

Bellville Business Expo 2025 Strengthens Its Role as a Catalyst for SMME Growth. The 2025 Bellville Business Expo (BBEXPO) concluded its third edition with strong momentum, bringing together entrepreneurs, business owners, investors, and industry leaders for two days of collaboration and knowledge-sharing at the Tygervalley Centre Arena. Held on 28 and 29 October 2025, the event once again demonstrated why Bellville is emerging as one of Cape Town’s key hubs for business growth, sustainability, and innovation.
Organised by the Greater Tygerberg Partnership (GTP), the expo attracted more than 500 participants from across the Northern Suburbs and surrounding regions. Businesses spanning technology, finance, creative industries, retail, social entrepreneurship, manufacturing, and sustainability showcased their work, positioning the expo as a crucial platform for SMME visibility and market access.
This year’s theme placed strong emphasis on sustainable business practices and future-fit innovation. Exhibitors and attendees engaged directly with buyers, funders, and development specialists, exploring opportunities to scale responsibly, strengthen brand presence, and access new markets. Key partners including Tyger Valley Centre, Resilient Innovations, Petco, Polyco, Standard Bank, Vodacom, Tappd, BizMag, Print On Demand, Urban Seed PR, the Human Economy, and Get Published supported the event’s ecosystem-building efforts.
Nasmera Buckus, Chief Operations Officer at the GTP, highlighted the significance of the initiative, noting that the expo continues to expand in reach and impact. She emphasised the organisation’s dedication to providing long-term support for small businesses through initiatives such as the Bellville Connect Level Up Business Programme, which assisted 32 entrepreneurs this year through mentorship, visibility, and market linkage.
The eight-week Level Up programme culminated in a pitch event on 21 October at the Momentum auditorium, where standout entrepreneurs earned recognition and exposure at the expo. The 2025 winners included Sodieq Barendse (Pekkish), Carmy Davis (Davis Clothing), Cazri Johnson (Ncinci Ndiqala), Shaun Cairns (Seed2harvest), and Aqeebah Taliep (Diamond Sparkle Detergent).
Top performers received tailored mentorship and advisory support focused on strategy, finance, sustainability, and operational optimisation. Additional prize packages offered access to business development tools, media features, and resources intended to elevate business performance. This ensured that the expo’s benefits extend beyond the event itself, reinforcing a support network that continues throughout the year.
A new highlight of the 2025 edition was the Sustainable Journey, an interactive experience designed to promote environmentally responsible habits. Visitors engaged with initiatives such as Tappd’s paperless contact cards, an e-waste recycling corner, an organic waste compost challenge, and the Green Pledge Wall.
The event also featured a lineup of influential speakers, including Alderman James Vos, Warren Hewitt, Tanya Heimann, and Willem Olivier. A standout discussion was the Zero Waste, Circular Economy and Collaboration panel, featuring experts from Petco, Wasteplan, TCB, and the City of Cape Town.
Looking ahead, the GTP will integrate all participating entrepreneurs into Bellville Connect, a digital platform designed to support small businesses through a verified directory, resource hub, AI business assistant, and community network. Through initiatives like BBEXPO and Level Up, the GTP continues to strengthen Bellville as a thriving economic district where SMMEs can grow, innovate, and compete.
