Digify Africa Expands Digital Skills Footprint to De Aar with Digify GPs Programme

Digify Africa has officially launched its transformative Digify General Practitioners (GPs) programme in De Aar, marking another milestone in its mission to empower youth with digital and entrepreneurial skills across South Africa.

Following successful rollouts in Kuruman and Kimberley, the programme’s expansion to De Aar will equip young people aged 18–35 with practical digital marketing and business skills designed to help them thrive in the digital economy.

Supported by Longyuan, Digify GPs is a 10-week, free digital skills boot camp that bridges the digital education gap in rural communities. The curriculum covers essential digital marketing, entrepreneurship, and presentation skills — with participants gaining hands-on experience by collaborating with local small businesses from Week 6 onwards.

“This expansion to De Aar is about creating pathways for young people to build sustainable digital livelihoods,” says Qhakaza Mohare, CEO of Digify Africa. “We’ve seen incredible success stories from Kuruman and Kimberley, where youth have used these skills to transform their futures. Now, it’s De Aar’s turn.”

Fay Cassim, Head of Sustainability at Longyuan, adds:

“Through the Longyuan Wind Project’s 5I R Program in partnership with Digify Africa, we’re driving digital empowerment across the Northern Cape. When innovation meets inclusion, transformation becomes inevitable. Our goal is to inspire young South Africans to lead with purpose, creativity, and integrity.”

To date, more than 100 young people from Kuruman and Kimberley have graduated from the Digify GPs programme. Among them is Nhlanhla Majola, who credits the experience with elevating her skills:

“As a self-taught social media marketer, this programme was the perfect springboard — it helped me understand structure, teamwork, and how to translate creativity into real results. I encourage the youth of De Aar to seize this opportunity.”

Applications for the De Aar cohort open on 30 October 2025 and close on 16 November 2025. Training runs from 19 January to 27 March 2026.
