Growthpoint Opens South Africa’s First Epione Health Village in R100 Million Rosebank Development. Growthpoint Healthcare Property has completed the development of South Africa’s first Epione Health Village in Rosebank, Johannesburg, introducing a new healthcare facility designed to bring multiple medical services together under one roof.
Valued at approximately R100 million, the flagship development is intended to provide an integrated approach to healthcare by combining primary care, specialist services, diagnostics, surgery and pharmacy facilities within a single location.
The Epione Health Village is the result of an eight-year partnership between Growthpoint Healthcare Property and Epione. The project combines Growthpoint’s healthcare property development expertise with Epione’s vision of delivering doctor-led, patient-centred healthcare that is both accessible and affordable.
Epione founder Garikai “Gazah” Govati said the partnership with Growthpoint was established after identifying the company as the right development partner to bring the concept to life.
According to Govati, while the project is relatively small compared with some of Growthpoint’s larger developments, the expertise, attention to detail and technical support provided throughout the process played a key role in delivering the facility.
Located on Glenhove Road near the Oxford Road intersection in Rosebank, the two-storey health village has been designed to create a continuous patient experience from arrival through treatment.
The ground floor features an open-plan entrance with a pharmacy and coffee shop, followed by a concierge service and a primary healthcare section comprising 22 consulting rooms. The consulting suites accommodate eight general practitioners, as well as dental and optometry practices, clinical associates and a skin cancer centre of excellence staffed by dermatologists and specialist surgeons focused on melanoma and related skin conditions.
Patients also have access to an on-site laboratory capable of performing histopathology services and approximately 80 percent of the tests offered by major diagnostic providers, alongside the pharmacy.
The upper level houses an ambulatory surgery centre equipped with 20 beds and two fully equipped operating theatres designed to support a range of surgical procedures across different medical specialties. Additional clinical services include colorectal care and endoscopy screening.
Govati said Epione is already planning additional Health Villages, with a pipeline of future developments in place.
He added that the company intends to expand the concept beyond South Africa, with plans to establish more Epione Health Villages across Africa while continuing to focus on creating healthcare environments that support patient care from the moment people enter the facility.
