Checkers To Remove All TRESemmé Products From Their Shelves By Tomorrow

Checkers To Remove All TRESemmé Products From Their Shelves by tomorrow. This is in response to the ad published by Clicks from TRESemmé on their website which has widely been deemed racist.

Whilst Checkers has not released an official statement yet, according to an internal document seen by eNCA the retailer will be taking off all products from it’s shelves tomorrow.

This mirrors Clicks which released a statement yesterday that read “Ramsunder said, Clicks will be delisting and removing all TRESemmé products from shelf with immediate effect and will be replacing the gap with locally sourced haircare brands, of which Clicks has an extensive range already. Furthermore, Clicks will be engaging with all suppliers to enforce their ethical code of conduct.

Minister of Minister for Small Business Development, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni rejected a “superficial apology by Clicks Management” in a statement which read “The Minister for Small Business Development, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni rejects the apology by the management of the retail store Clicks as meaningless. Clicks misses the point that the offense is not only about the images that are insensitive but the fact that it represents the views of TRESemme that are racists and reflects the continued undermining of the beauty of African women and the violence they suffer when they are deemed not meeting certain superficial standards. Therefore to pull down the advert and issue a public apology cannot cut it. Clicks must remove the TRESemme product from its shelves as an expression of their disassociation with suppliers who promote racist and insensitive marketing.”
