What You Need To Know About South Africa’s Cheapest Car. The Bajaj Qute, earlier called Bajaj Qute, is a Rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive, four-passenger quadricycle built by the Indian company Bajaj Auto and is aimed primarily at the Indian domestic market. The car was the first four-wheeler manufactured by Bajaj Auto, which was unveiled on 3 January 2012. In India, the Qute is not legally classified as a car.

It seats four people, has four wheels, and can drive anywhere – but it is more of a quadricycle than a car. It has a storage capacity of 20 kilograms and, if fitted with roof rails and a carrier, can carry an additional 40 kilograms. Interior storage space comes in at 191 litres. The Qute starts at R60 000.

The Qute is powered by a 217-cc single cylinder engine with a capability to generate power output of 20 hp (15 kW). The four-wheeler has a metal-polymer monocoque body due to which it weighs 400 kg. Turning radius of the first four wheeler of Bajaj is 3.5m.

As far as the performance of the Bajaj Qute is concerned, the four-wheeler is expected to attain top speed of 70 kmph. The 200 cc single cylinder engine of Bajaj RE60 help it deliver decent performance on road. Mileage of this four-wheeler is also quite good and it is expected to deliver 24 kmpl in city and 35 kmpl on the highways. Although the car enthusiasts are not much happy with the 200 cc engine, considering it as a replacement of a three wheeler, it is quite acceptable. Further, it has CO2 emission of 60g per kilometre.

According to Bajaj Auto, two variants of this car are available in India, out of which one will be entry level model and other will have several comfort attributes. Bajaj Auto India has solely done the designing and development of the Qute, which took it four years. The company also has exported this car to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, African and Latin American countries.
