South African Entrepreneur Amanda Dambuza Shares The Importance Of Mentorship In Being An Entrepreneur. In an interview with The Insider SA Amanda Dambuza shared the importance of having a mentor when one is a young entrepreneur and also the importance of established entrepreneurs mentoring young entrepreneurs.
She believes that in a country that is filled with unemployed youth, entrepreneurship is the way that young people will be able to create companies that will be able to provide sustainable employment. She said, “I was inspired to become an entrepreneur because I just wanted to make a difference in my nation. The unemployment rate was incredibly high and still is, and most of those unemployed people are the youth. A nation that has its youth unemployed is a nation waiting to explode… We do a lot of talent identification at a lot of organisations as well and hand hold new executives so that they truly unlock the power that’s sitting inside of them, I’m really passionate about mentoring because that is another form of education, in fact that’s my purpose in life.”
Amanda Dambuza is the Chief Executive of UYANDISWA; a project management consulting firm she founded 8 years ago. She is also the founder and Director of Leadership Development Strategies, a company founded in 2016. She was also the Financial Services Director of the JSE listed software organisation, Adapt IT.
Prior to founding her own companies Amanda had spent most of her over 13-year corporate career in Information Technology within the Financial Services industry. She held various senior roles at all four major banks in South Africa with her last role as a Chief Information Officer at Barclays Africa.
Amanda is the Executive Producer and Creator of Vastly Sage Talkshow on YouTube, a platform tackling hard conversations for healing and transformation. She is also the creator of Vastly Sage Mentorship and the annual Vastly Sage Brunch which brings together a hand-picked selection of inspiring guest speakers who pour their hearts and souls into inspiring and motivating all those in attendance.
