Drip Footwear Founder Lekau Sehoana Highlights The Reason Why He Bought Black Eagles Football Club. Drip Footwear Founder Lekau Sehoana recently announced that he had acquired a football club in North West called Black Eagles, the team plays in the ABC Motsepe League.
In an interview with Supersport, Sehoana explained the reason behind his decision of buying a football club. He said, “… we went into football because currently it’s the biggest sport that has support and it’s loved by tons and tons of our target market in terms of Footwear. Besides it being development and just being able to help the kids, so I’ve been approached by a lot of young people that want to play soccer and I looked at how I can actually be involved in soccer and involve what I’m also doing as well as in this case it’s Drip Footwear, so I did my research and I realised that we can actually tap into the sports by developing our own kit and just making the team highly fashionable. So that we can also use our target market that loves the brand to buy our clothes. So we’ve been getting a lot of people asking ‘why don’t you get into making clothing, I said no but this time around I’m using Black Eagles as it will have replicas, and sell the brand through sports.”
Lekau explained that he has always wanted to get into the sports and has been looking for a football team to invest in for a while. He did this to empower young people who came and told him that they want to play soccer. He also aims to use this opportunity with the club to tap into making clothing as his Drip brand will be making kits for Black Eagles Football Club. Sehoana also aims to use the football club to attract its target market so that they can also buy their clothing brand.
