The Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 took to Twitter to announce that they have partnered with South African Brandy Klipdrift for it to be the official sponsor of the sporting tournament which will be staged in Cape Town, South Africa, from 9-11 September, 2022.
The post read, “We’re thrilled to welcome @KlipdriftBrandy to the Rugby World Cup Sevens family ahead of the eagerly awaited event in September. Klipdrift, a long-time supporter of South African sport, will be available across the concourse & hospitality venues in Cape Town #GoldBetweenFriends”
The brandy is owned by Distell, which is a multinational brewing and beverage company, based in South Africa. The company also owns several alcohol brands such as Viceroy, Amarula and Nederburg Potstill Solera Brandy. The HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series consists of tournaments held around the world in which men’s and women’s national sevens teams compete for series points. An overall champion for both men and women is crowned at the end of the season based on points accumulated throughout all of the events.
World Rugby Chief Executive, Alan Gilpin, said in a statement, “We are delighted to welcome Klipdrift to the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 commercial family at the beginning of what is a big year for rugby sevens. Klipdrift’s brand embodies so much of what rugby sevens is about; fun, friendships and sharing moments of celebration, and we’re very much looking forward to working with them over the course of the next eight months.”
“Our plans continue in earnest in partnership with SA Rugby to host a memorable event, and it has been great to see rugby sevens back in action with two HSBC World Rugby Sevens events held already this month, acting as crucial preparation for teams as they build towards Rugby World Cup Sevens later this year.” Gilpin added.
