Pinsent Masons Expands Team In South Africa With New Senior Hires. Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons is expanding its Johannesburg office with the hire of new Partners, David Woodhouse and Anthony Crane, Legal Director Mark Thomas, and Senior Associates Nanri Labuschagne and Annelle Kamper.
The new additions, together with other Associates from their teams, will join Pinsent Masons from the highly regarded, boutique Johannesburg law firm, Tabacks, and will help expand the firm’s client service offering in Africa, bringing in expertise in commercial and M&A law, employment and competition law, and commercial dispute resolution.

The seasoned team joining Pinsent Masons include, David Woodhouse, former chairman of Tabacks. As an expert in the field of employment law, David advises clients across many sectors and has been involved in collective union disputes, chairing disciplinary enquiries and arbitrations. He has litigated in the High Court, Supreme Court of Appeal and Constitutional Court and has also acted as a judge in the Labour Court.
Anthony Crane has an established commercial and regulatory practice spanning mergers and acquisitions, African competition law and renewable energy projects. He regularly advises on matters such as merger approvals across Africa, compliance and training programs, anti-monopoly investigations, and other regulatory matters.
Mark Thomas joins as Legal Director. Mark advises on commercial and regulatory disputes and has advised clients on mediation, arbitration disputes and also has litigated in the South African Superior Courts, and several specialist tribunals in matters related to environmental, competition, insolvency, intellectual property and mining law.
Nanri Labuschagne joins as a Senior Associate specialising in High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal litigation and arbitration proceedings. Her areas of practice includes public and private law, with experience in administrative, company, mining and mineral, banking and financial services, debt recovery and insolvency, and contract law.
Annelle Kamper joins as senior associate in the employment law team and advises on all aspects of employment law including employment contracts, restraints of trade and acts for clients in employment litigation in various Courts and Tribunals.
