Clicks Recalls Kiddies Snack After Listeria Detection

Clicks Recalls Kiddies Snack After Listeria Detection. Health and wellness retailer Clicks has announced the recall of one of its children’s nutritional products, Made for Tots Corn Puffs Chicken 12g, after routine testing detected non-pathogenic Listeria contamination.

The recall affects 1,152 units, of which 348 had already been sold while the remaining 804 were removed from shelves. The affected products were distributed through Clicks stores in South Africa, Clicks Online, and outlets in Lesotho.

According to the National Consumer Commission (NCC), the supplier confirmed that the Listeria strain detected is generally non-pathogenic to humans, though rare, isolated cases of human disease have been reported. Importantly, the strain is not associated with listeriosis, the serious illness that can be fatal in humans.

Consumers are advised to check their products for the following identifying details:

  • Identifying Number: 396194
  • Manufacture Date (MGF): 03.03.26
  • Lot Number: 6:003
  • Best Before (BB): 02.03.2027

The NCC has urged consumers not to consume the affected products and to return them to any Clicks store for a full refund or replacement, with or without proof of purchase.

The Commission further stated that it is closely monitoring this recall, along with other recent product recalls, to ensure full compliance with the Consumer Protection Act.

In a statement, Clicks reassured customers that the recall was precautionary and part of its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. The retailer emphasized that swift action was taken to remove affected products from shelves and to notify consumers.

This recall highlights the importance of ongoing product testing and regulatory oversight in safeguarding consumer health, even when contamination involves strains considered low-risk.
