Rare Jay-Z Trading Card Broke Auction Records

Rare Jay-Z Trading Card Broke Auction Records. In the past few months, the world of collectibles–digital and otherwise–has experienced an influx of newcomers. Non-fungible tokens are slowly becoming a household name, and collectors are looking to make bank off their prized possessions. On Tuesday, a rare JAY-Z artefact broke an auction record. A trading card, produced by Topps and the National Basketball Association, has now sold for over $100,000 at the Goldin Auctions’ monthly card sale.

According to Okay Player, the starting bid for the card was just $500. A whopping 49 bids later, however, and the price had jumped to a staggering $105,780. The sale price is an all-time record for any non-sports or non-trading-card-game card at auction. The card features an image of JAY-Z in the Kingdom Come-American Gangster era, as well as an authentic signature. The card was produced as a part of Topps’ “Signs of Stardom” series.
