What challenges have you faced as a startup jeweller?

For Thabstabita Accessories, one of the biggest obstacles has been getting to the right market. As a handmade jewellery brand, it can be challenging to reach customers who truly understand the value of craftsmanship, the story behind each piece, and the effort involved in artisanal design. Many markets are dominated by mass-produced jewellery, making it harder for handmade brands to stand out or compete on price. Building awareness and educating customers about what makes Thabstabita unique takes time, consistency, and resources. Building brand recognition in a competitive market has also required patience, consistency, and trust. As a handmade jewellery brand, every piece takes time and skill and helping customers understand the value behind craftsmanship has been a learning journey. Despite these challenges, each obstacle has become a lesson in resilience and innovation. Thabstabita Accessories continues to grow by adapting, learning, and staying true to its purpose: creating meaningful, proudly African pieces that inspire and empower.
