Government Launches R300 Million Imbali for Her Initiative

Government Launches R300 Million Imbali for Her Initiative. The Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency and the Department of Small Business Development have launched a new R300 million initiative aimed at supporting women-owned businesses across South Africa.
Known as Imbali for Her, the programme is designed to advance women’s economic participation by combining financial assistance with non-financial business support services.
According to the organisations behind the initiative, the programme forms part of broader efforts to improve access to funding, business development resources and entrepreneurial opportunities for women operating within South Africa’s small business sector.
The initiative will provide qualifying participants with integrated support intended to help women entrepreneurs strengthen, grow and sustain their businesses.
Officials said the programme goes beyond traditional funding models by also focusing on mentorship, development support and other forms of business assistance aimed at improving long-term business sustainability.
The launch comes at a time when many small and medium-sized enterprises continue to face challenges accessing finance, operational support and growth opportunities within a competitive economic environment.
The Department of Small Business Development and SEDFA said the initiative is specifically focused on advancing women’s economic empowerment and increasing participation in entrepreneurship and business ownership.
The programme forms part of government efforts to support enterprise development and broaden access to economic opportunities for historically underrepresented groups within the business sector.
While full programme details and eligibility requirements are expected to guide applicants during the application process, the initiative has already attracted attention from entrepreneurs seeking financial and developmental support for existing or growing ventures.
The organisations involved said the funding package and support model are intended to create a more inclusive ecosystem for women entrepreneurs by addressing both financial barriers and operational challenges faced by small businesses.
Imbali for Her also reflects growing attention on the role of entrepreneurship in job creation, economic inclusion and small business development in South Africa.
Government-backed support programmes aimed at SMEs have increasingly focused on combining capital access with mentorship, training and strategic guidance in an effort to improve business survival and growth rates.
SEDFA and the Department of Small Business Development encouraged interested applicants to apply through the official registration platform.
Applications for the Imbali for Her initiative can be accessed online through the official Application Link.
