Waste Skip Truck Gives Local Female-Owned SMME A Boost

Waste Skip Truck Gives Local Female-Owned SMME A Boost. As part of its Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) programme, Glencore Ferroalloys recently handed over a waste skip truck and trailer worth over R3 million to Rambait Trading and Enterprises.

Rambait is a local business that specialises in waste management. While it initially focused on hazardous waste, it has since broadened its offering to include general scrap waste and recycling. To do its work, Rambait was renting a waste skip truck, a trailer and a number of skip bins. This came at an exorbitant cost and threatened the growth and sustainability of the business.

To support Rambait, and to help it thrive, Rustenburg Smelter not only donated the equipment the company needs to do its work, but also awarded it a three-year waste management contract following a rigorous tendering process. This speaks to the smelter’s investment commitment and confidence in the business, as well as the impact that it believes Rambait will have on the local community.

“Thank you so much Glencore for believing in me and my business,” says Founder and Managing Director of Rambait, Mpho Magano. “It hasn’t been an easy journey but knowing that I have Glencore by my side has kept me going. I will not stop shouting praises for all that Glencore has done for me. They not only came on board and saw my capabilities, but they have also shown me new possibilities far beyond my current reach.”

Through its ESD programme, Glencore continues to empower entrepreneurs with the resources, technical knowledge, and, where possible, contracts that support their long-term growth.
