Western Cape Invites Businesses to Apply for Export Growth Support Programme

Western Cape Invites Businesses to Apply for Export Growth Support Programme. The Western Cape Department of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism has opened applications for the latest round of its Export Competitiveness Enhancement Programme (ECEP), inviting local businesses to apply for support aimed at strengthening their export capabilities.

The programme is designed to assist both established exporters and businesses seeking to enter international markets by improving export readiness, addressing technical trade barriers and helping companies meet global compliance requirements.

According to Western Cape Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism Dr Ivan Meyer, growing the province’s export sector remains an important part of efforts to stimulate economic growth, attract investment and create employment opportunities.

Through the programme, qualifying businesses will have access to a range of technical and operational support measures intended to improve their competitiveness in international markets.

Support includes assistance with obtaining international certifications, meeting regulatory compliance requirements and securing specialised export permits.

The programme also offers guidance on product improvements, including testing, nutritional analysis, packaging, labelling and product registration to help businesses meet export market standards.

In addition, participating businesses may receive support to access international e-commerce platforms and explore opportunities to diversify into new export markets.

The department said the programme also provides funding support for technology, machinery and equipment that can help businesses increase production capacity and improve operational efficiency.

Applications are now open through the Western Cape Government’s online portal.

The department has encouraged interested businesses to review the programme’s eligibility requirements, application guidelines and supporting documentation before submitting their applications.

The Export Competitiveness Enhancement Programme forms part of the provincial government’s efforts to strengthen the international competitiveness of Western Cape businesses by providing practical support to companies looking to expand beyond South Africa’s borders.

By helping businesses improve compliance, enhance products and increase production capabilities, the initiative aims to position more Western Cape enterprises to access opportunities in global markets while supporting the province’s broader economic development objectives.
