PMI Offers Free Course to Help Entrepreneurs Turn Ideas Into Profitable Businesses

PMI Offers Free Course to Help Entrepreneurs Turn Ideas Into Profitable Businesses. The Project Management Institute (PMI) has launched a free online course aimed at helping aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners develop the skills needed to turn business ideas into viable ventures.
The five-hour course, PMI Foundations: Project Management for Entrepreneurs, targets early-stage entrepreneurs, freelancers, side-hustle creators, small business owners and community innovators. It covers practical business skills, including cash flow management, customer validation, project planning and sustainable growth.
The programme combines practical templates, reflection exercises, insights from experienced founders and artificial intelligence-supported brainstorming. Participants do not need prior business or project management experience to enrol.
The launch comes amid challenges faced by creators seeking to generate sustainable income from their work. According to the Africa Creator Economy Report 2.0, approximately six in 10 respondents earned less than $100 a month from their creative activities, while 71% identified business strategy and management as important skills for attracting investment.
George Asamani, managing director for sub-Saharan Africa at PMI, said creators needed to understand the commercial aspects of their work, including the costs associated with delivering projects.
He highlighted how project management could help creators plan brand partnerships, assess expenses and allocate resources effectively.
The course covers eight areas, including business readiness, financial planning, task organisation, customer testing, building trust, measuring results, leadership and growth planning.
It encourages entrepreneurs to evaluate their resources before accepting work, test demand before making substantial investments and monitor which activities generate sales. The training also addresses workload management, communication and the development of support systems as businesses expand.
PMI said the course was designed for entrepreneurs across different sectors, including creators seeking to monetise their audiences and individuals launching products, services or side businesses.
The initiative comes against the backdrop of employment pressures across Africa. The African Development Bank estimates that 10 million to 12 million young Africans enter the labour market annually, while approximately three million formal jobs are created.
The free course is available online through PMI’s website
